  2. I'm thinking of invest in Silver, for a few reasons.

Silver price tend to follow gold price, but in the past few years, silver price did not go up as it did in gold. I think it's because China was exporting Silver, but recently China has became a net importer of Silver.

China was a net exporter of silver for many years and the Chinese export used to be a major component of global silver supply. This changed in 2007 when China became a net importer of silver. The demand figures being released by the General Administration of Customs in China has been showing the massive turnaround in China from large silver exporter to large silver importer.

China has gross exports of 1,575 tons of silver in 2009, down 58 percent from a year earlier. China’s gross imports of silver increased 15 percent to 5,159 tons in 2010

SLV seem to be a good EFT, since it holds a lot of Silver in hand.

This article is talking about Gold price vs silver usually about 1:16 and now is' at 1:65

I always believed one rule, whatever China buys, the price is going up, whatever China sells, the price will go down.

    feel free to give input

I looked at AGO it's a X3 index, when I do a chart comparison, when SLV hit 200% increase AGO hit 500%, it must be AGO is charging a lot manage fee, so I think SLV is a better option.

for AGO you are taking 3X the risk with 2.5 X the return.

    I don't know if I'm right.

AGQ tracks x2 not x3 and MER: 0.96

I quote this for you too
"The Fund seeks to provide daily investment results that correspond to twice (200%) the daily performance of its corresponding benchmark. The Fund determines the type, quantity and mix of investment positions that it believes in combination should produce daily returns consistent with the Fund s objective."

oh well SLV is a much larger fund managed by Blackrock, apparently the biggest and one of the best fund companies. I have been playing silver ups and downs with AGQ though because i like the double up potential. :) I would say SLV is the counterpart to GLD but if you want a little leverage, go with AGQ.

I didn't buy AGQ, but I did buy some SLV, and it's been doing well since my last post. I'm extremely happy.

I feel there are still more room for silver to go up. What do you think?

Mideast and asia political unrest will only fuel the PM growth... i really think silver will go higher, as well as gold. Gold just reclaimed 1400 today.. I am still holding AGQ

I came across this. shorting ZSL instead of buying AGQ.

AGQ is like playing roulette with 3 green numbers.

These double ETFs have sprung up in recent years and flourished for a very obvious reason.

They are great for the writers and sellers and bad for the longs. They have built-in price decay that will eat up even the best of traders IMO.

This forum has examined this phenomenon in the past. The conclusion then was the best play is to short the double bear ETFs, creating a double negative or double bull play.

The clever choice to do this is ZSL. Shorting ZSL does the same thing as Buying AGQ while being the house rather than playing against it.

To illustrate the AGQ time decay we have a perfect example. On 11/9/2010 and on 12/10/2010 SLV opened at exactly $27.80. Without decay, you’d expect AGQ to open exactly the same as well. However, AGQ opened at $138.45 on 11/9 and $135.70 on 12/10. This figures out to a substantial 2% loss in just a month. The decay is subtle but true and steady.

    Play at your own risk.

    And I’m Sirius

Very good comment I have noticed that decay too, but only when i just started to own AGQ but right now my return rate on it has been too great that i could afford to own it for a bit and still has a profit on it. One thing about ZSL though... I have tried to play the short double short quite a few times, but my brokerage has never had the quantity of stocks with them at the time that i wanted to short ZSL... probably worked once for me thats it. So i went straight back to long AGQ haha let me know if you find a brokerage in Canada that has plenty of people owning ZSL for us to short with, and i will make the switch call! :-D

I have sold my SLV today.

I based my decision on the sharp increases SLV stocks, the recent price tumble in copper, and the uncertainty in the market.

I have decided to take my gains for now.
