The City is excited and appreciative of the client response and interest to our expanded fall culture, virtual and recreation programming. We continue to work on giving you more opportunities to stay active and enhance your customer experience.

Step 3 limits the number of classes and class size

The two-dose summer has allowed us to operate at a level that somewhat resembles regular operations – but we are not quite at business-as-usual yet. While the third stage of the provincial reopening plan has allowed us to offer the most in-person offerings since the start of the pandemic, it still restricts us to 50 per cent capacity. As a result, the number and size of the classes we offer continue to be reduced and most drop-in activities require that you book an appointment.

In addition to COVID-19 capacity limitations, many recreation and culture employees were redeployed to share their expertise and talents in support of the City’s pandemic and vaccination efforts. This also impacted our ability to support more sessions and activities. Some City facilities have also been used as clinics, and respite centres.

We monitor provincial regulations to plan and adapt our services. When Ontario moves to its next reopening stage, we will be ready to implement changes to enhance our current offerings, add services and increase capacities where permitted.

Online registration system

The City is current working to launch a new online registration system in the new year. Unlike our current system, it will provide greater capacity to handle high registration volumes – reducing client wait times and providing better service.

Throughout the pandemic, we have adjusted, adapted and modified our operations to balance the provision of varied activities while ensuring your safety by implementing COVID restrictions and protocols. We will remain responsive to expand and offer more services when permitted and enhance your customer experience whether you are registering online or participating in a class and activities in one of our facilities.
